Spinal Doors~

This was my final project in the first term of college i attended in the fall of 2012.

I fabricated the box my friend here resides in,

and i sculpted the character out of polymer clay who manifested himself and stemmed from the energy that had created his home. There are some found objects that are tethered to the walls, as well as my first piece of jewelry that i decided belonged with the piece to signify how long i had come in a matter of weeks. The organic elements of the piece consist of a vertebrae that i embelished with some clay and paint, the feather on his right shoulder, and the garnet crystal the he is holding between his hands. They say the magic properties behind a garnet are that they help get the finished state of a project underway, and bring both fortitude and courage. I thank my teacher Jim who taught me how to not only use the tools, but how to use them correctly. He is responsible for getting me hooked.

The following spring 2013, there was a student gallery held at the community college and i submitted three pieces of work to be judged for the show. A man from Portland art institute came and viewed all the work stundents had made in the course of the past year. He awarded my box the best in show for metalworking and a scholarship to the institute.
